The design and architecture of public toilets is not something I gave much thought to until recently but others have. Someone has thought about the lighting in context of where that toilet will be. They have thought about the most aesthetically pleasing urinal design relative to cost and durability. Someone has put thought into access and the type of patron likely to frequent the facility. Given that they are such transient spaces; arenas of sometimes acute inter-personal awkwardness, I find it fascinating that so much thought has gone into the aesthetics of managing communal personal waste.
